![]() There's just so many different configurations and pitfalls that you're selling into an incredibly competitive and saturated market. The outgoing machine was also hard to sell, there's so many time wasters and PC hardware just don't hold value vs Mac. But the truth is, I still bought a new machine when it was time to upgrade as the motherboard, CPU and RAM were all out-dated vs what I needed anyway. I swapped from Mac to PC on the basis of being able to upgrade when/what I want. Studii One only imports from Notion (Notion 6 is basically marked for death on macOS, as its unlikely to be updated for Apple Silicon Native support). Logic Pro can Import MusicXML from Notation software and supports most scoring symbols. Logic has a better Score (Notation) Editor. Logic Pro supports Surround and Spatial (Atmos) Audio.Įxponentially better Documentation for Logic. Logic Pro does have (high) Track Limits, while Studio One is simply limited by your hardware. It also has a dedicated mastering workspace. Studio One generally has stronger Audio Editing than Logic Pro. Logic has stronger, deeper MIDI editing and facilities. Logic Pro has a better system for Project Versioning. Also, Logic supports the RX Spectral Editor and Music Rebalance as ARA plug-ins. Logic has ARA2 Support - every relevant DAW does, except of the Live and FL. I have all I need in plugin controls in S1.Īs for the benefits, I don't use 3 and 4. I do not want to use it anymore than I want to work on my car. It's computer engineering, not musicianship. I actually hired someone to teach me the environment. I hate the transformer UI!!! It's like a robot, not a musician! Powerful, but I can get the same results in S1 another way. I rarely use MIDI effects, so perhaps I just don't get it. Is this for loops? If so, I do not use loops. #6: why do I need to search my entire machine? I do not understand. I don't use Logic's drum machine or Impact. I use Battery/Kontakt for drums and Kontakt for sampled instruments, so 7,8,9 are irrelevant to me. Your points 1,2,3, are irrelevant to my workflow. And when I switched to S1 I did not even bother to install their library. So I realized all your points that you consider "cons" don't affect me. If the part exceeds my skill, I hire outside musicians. ![]() I do not use loops or cut n paste, I play all the parts. Quick plugin controls in the inspector windows The project page and ability to do multi project mastering dutiesĬhord detection and polyphonic pitch modification Plug-in smart controls are more powerful than S1s versionįaster access to midi transformations in the piano roll (but less powerful) The environment window allows for way deeper single flow design options. The transformer is powerful for complex midi modifications Logics drum machine is more powerful than ImpactXL Also Logics full sampler supports time stretch and PresenceXT doesn’t. For example you can play timestretched samples polyphonically in QSampler but neither SampleOneXT or PresenceXT support it. Logic’s samplers are more powerful than SampleXT and Presence. Logic’s sampler handling is better - many options for dragging and dropping samples (like sending to alchemy to use in a granular mode) Logic’s browser can search your entire machine in a second due to spotlight Logic supports modulators (like an LFO midi fx modulating a synth parameter or another midi fx parameter) Logic has more powerful midi effects (like scripter) and can use plugins as midi effects on a single channel Logics instruments blow S1 out of the water.
